What is PFC RDMA?
What is PFC RDMA?
RDMA is a method of accessing memory on a remote system without interrupting the processing of the CPU(s) on that system. Unlike TCP, RDMA needs a lossless network; i.e. there must be no packet loss due to buffer overflow at the switches. RoCEv2 uses PFC (Priority-based Flow Control) [14] for this purpose.
What is RDMA port?
The system supports node-to-node connections that use Ethernet protocols that support remote direct memory access (RDMA) technology, such as RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) or iWARP.
How do I know if my NIC is RDMA capable Linux?
There are two options to do this: using the service file or using lsmod.
- Verify that RDMA kernel part is loaded using service file.
- Verify that RDMA kernel part is loaded using lsmod.
- Verify that RDMA devices are available.
- Verify that RDMA devices can be accessed.
- Send traffic using ibv_*_pingpong.
- Send traffic using rping.
Does RDMA use TCP?
To show the benefits of RDMA, the test uses SMB Direct enabled (RoCE) and disabled (TCP/IP).
Does RDMA use IP?
5 uses the IP protocol field to differentiate its traffic from other IP protocols such as TCP and UDP. The value used for the protocol number is unspecified and is left to the deployment to select.
How do I know if RDMA is enabled?
Check that RDMA is enabled on the network interfaces.
- Get-NetAdapterRDMA. Verify that the network interfaces show as RDMA capable and multichannel is enabled.
- Get-SmbClientNetworkInterface. Network Direct is enabled in the OS.
- Get-NetOffloadGlobalSetting | Select NetworkDirect.
Is RDMA transport layer?
RDMA High Level Overview RDMA or Remote Direct Memory Access offloads its transport layer to silicon to eliminate kernel packet processing and move the CPU out of the critical path.
What is a RoCE switch?
RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) is a network protocol that allows remote direct memory access (RDMA) over an Ethernet network. RoCE v1 is an Ethernet link layer protocol and hence allows communication between any two hosts in the same Ethernet broadcast domain.
Should I use RDMA?
beneficial for applications that have irregular access patterns and that are latency sensitive, like key-value stores, graph stores, and relational databases. RDMA networks also provide high bandwidth and high message rates, enabling systems that have high throughput and low latency at the same time.
